  • You can pay at the planetarium door before the show. We only accept card (no Cougar Cash, Venmo, Apple Pay, etc).
  • Public shows are only given on Monday and Friday nights. The Monday night shows are professional presentations where the presenter will guide the audience through seasonal constellations and night sky objects. The Friday night shows are like Monday night shows but are run by BYU’s Astronomical Society. We do not take reservations for Monday and Friday Night shows – they are done on a first come, first serve basis with tickets being sold for the show 30 minutes before the show starts.

Community group shows are shows designed for children's programs and targeted towards school and scout educational objectives. To make a reservation for a community group show, please go to our Community Groups page.
  • All planetarium shows are given with the theatre lights off, so please do not bring children too young to enjoy the shows. We have separate shows specifically for older preschoolers during the day that can be scheduled. Please submit your request here.
  • You need to have 20 people to reserve an unscheduled Community Groups show. Smaller groups, including homeschool families, can request seats in shows that are already scheduled (see Calendar).
  • Children need to understand that they must use best manners while in the building; no running, loud talking etc. The planetarium is located in a classroom building. Any group that disrupts classes will be asked to leave. Additionally, food and drink are not allowed in the planetarium.
  • Please arrive early to your show and meet your presenter on the 2nd floor of the Eyring Science Center, by the large pendulum. Do not wait outside of the planetarium. If your presenter has not come down 5 minutes after your scheduled show, please send a representative of your group to go to the department office (N283).
  • Please email us at planetarium@byu.edu to make changes or cancel your reservation.
